Student Life: Library Lead in

Our school library is accessible to all students and staff, with welcoming spaces led by a certified school librarian who provides relevant instruction, leadership, and resources to develop students' skills in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

Student Life: Library Support

Library Support

Our library values access, inquiry, literacy, collaboration, privacy, and equity. We support staff and students by connecting them with high-quality resources and instruction to enhance their learning.

We provide the following services to support learning:

  • Instruction - Students learn how to responsibly use and evaluate resources, information, and technology tools.
  • Access to resources - Students check out library books or access digital resources that meet their academic needs or help them explore their interests.
  • Reader’s Advisory - Get suggestions for which book to read next, or which resources to use for a project.
Meet Mrs. Miller

My name is Jane Miller, and I am the librarian at Fuquay-Varina Elementary.  Our library policies are designed to keep your children reading!

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please stop by or email me at jmiller4@wcpss.net

Library Policies

The mission of the Fuquay-Varina Elementary School Media Center is to inspire a passion for knowledge and to develop a lifelong love of reading.

Library Policies

3 Books –All children at FVES will be allowed to check out 3 books for personal reading at a time.  If a teacher has a special project, your child may check out additional books.

Email reminders- You will receive a weekly email letting you know which titles your child has checked out from the library.  This will help you talk to your child about the books he/she has out, and help him remember to return them when he is finished.

No overdue penalties-Keep the book as long as your child needs to finish it.  This will only limit the number of books your child is able to check out.  Ex. If your child returns 2 and keeps 1, he will be able to check out 2 more.  At any given time your child may have 3 books checked out of the library.

No lost/damaged book fines- I will not charge money for lost or damaged books.  I appreciate your help in keeping books as safe as possible, but I know that accidents happen.  I want our children to continue to love reading even if they have made a mistake.  Please email me if you have lost or damaged a book so I can correct it on your child's account.
